Does this character have previous CR?: he's not from a CRAU, so nothing that's especially relevant; he knows his canonmates because they're from the same place and time but that's it.

PERSONALITY QUESTIONS
What skills does your character bring to the situation?:
Chirrut has spent the bulk of his adult life in service to a spiritual order dedicated to the Force, specifically in the protection of its temple; as a result, he's essentially a warrior monk, accomplished in both a very specific flavor of alien martial arts and with both a staff and a version of a crossbow. In addition, since the temple was designed to be self-contained he's familiar with various farming, hunting, and other survival-type skills and general skills like cooking and simple sewing.
Granted, a lot of it sounds extremely improbable for a blind man, however his training as part of his order, as well as his martial arts-type training, has all emphasized a kind of mind-body balance, being in complete control of his body and expanding his senses so he has an almost preternatural awareness of the world around him and his place in it, allowing for him to both fight and fire projectiles with a great deal of accuracy.
He also tends to be extremely headstrong with a tendency to take charge of a situation as needed; in canon he is originally found at the ruins of an old temple, and through the interactions of him and his companion Baze it's pretty apparent he's used to taking point in most interactions, and is pretty fearless even when he's not entirely sure what's going on or is out of his element, with an aptitude for thinking on the fly and making things up as he goes, adapting to his environment and situation as necessary. He was a preacher before the main protagonist stumbles across him, and is extremely spiritual, frequently making reference to his belief that the Force is the governing force of the universe and everything is, ultimately, part of Its plan. He's a perpetual optimist, at the end of the day, determined to see the good in everything, or at least to believe in a positive outcome somewhere, even after all the hardship he's been through, with an upbeat, joking demeanor.
Why did you choose this specific character for 6I, and how do you picture them fitting into the game?
I think it would be an interesting setting to throw Chirrut into, and an interesting way to explore his character, since the movie only ever really presented him in broadstrokes despite being one of the main characters. I think a slice of life survival-type game, especially one where he already will have some friendly faces to lean on a little, is a perfect place for him, because it will allow him to get back to doing what he loves in a place that's much more forgiving and not so war-torn. It's a bunch of people all trying to find their way and figure out the Purpose behind it all, and really that's the kind of place where I feel Chirrut, being a very spiritual man without any kind of flock to protect, could thrive.
How do you imagine your character will survive in 6I, and in what ways will they contribute to the settlement, if any?
Chirrut is a survivor, first and foremost, considering he's spent the past 19 years or so living in a city under occupation by the Empire with a civil war going on, so being stuck in another settlement where survival is not guaranteed won't be anything new. He'll survive the same way he always does, by strength of will if need be, but he's not a selfish man by nature and understands perfectly well how working together can help everyone; he'll contribute to the settlement however he can, be it providing moral support and boosting morale, defense of the village itself and the people inside it, or whatever manual labor he can help out with. He'll have to figure out how to compensate for his own weaknesses once he's separated from his technology, but he's incredibly disciplined and stubborn to boot, so he'll work to make up the difference and adapt to his new situation, leaning on those around him for help as need be.
Explain how your character would react to:
- Being separated, possibly permanently, from loved ones and their previous life, including loss of powers, if applicable:
Chirrut's life as he knew it has already been destroyed, along with his homeworld, so ending up somewhere new and forced into a new life will leave him more curious than distraught. Being without Baze would give him more pause, because they've been together for most of his life and operating independently of the man who was his eyes and kept him out of (too much) trouble will pose a much greater learning curve, but so long as he's able to maintain faith that they'll be reunited sooner or later, he'll be able to endure. It's just another bump in the road, right? Everything happens for a reason.
Loss of powers themselves won't give him too much pause, considering his level of Force sensitivity is pretty minimal even on a good day. Telekinesis and mindreading are always out of his reach and even if he had a couple more decades in his own world it's doubtful that would ever change, any extra abilities his level of sensitivity grants him is pretty much limited to sensing extreme motives (i.e. homicidal intent), a little extra help in his aim, and rudimentary pathfinding (i.e. following a specific person's trail). He'll probably notice its disappearance, and be disappointed in it, but he's more likely to interpret it as the Force testing him and just work harder to earn it back than anything else.
It's the loss of technology that is likely to trip him up the most, although even that will be just a matter of adapting to the situation. In his own universe he carries an echo box, which is essentially a machine that amplifies ambient sounds to enhance situational awareness, and his staff has an internal battery and a crystal on the tip which vibrates to create an audible pitch he uses to better identify where the end of it is for combat purposes. Being without these devices will likely put him at a bit of a disadvantage at first, but this too he'll adapt to and figure out a way to work around, it's not really in his nature to dwell on bad situations.
- Their environment being manipulated to prevent them leaving the area:
This will trip him up much more, particularly if coupled with being separated from Baze; up until his death, he always had Baze to navigate everything with, to be his eyes when the rest of his senses failed him. Because he can navigate plenty, but he's not without weaknesses, he's far from infallible and a majority of what seems to be that way is just a matter of having things mapped out in his head ahead of time and supreme situational awareness. If you throw him into what he knows as a familiar area and then mess it around on him, he's going to be very much off-kilter and won't appreciate it very much or think very highly of whoever's doing it.
- Being physically and/or mentally manipulated, such as having hallucinations or suddenly possessing special abilities they did not have before:
This would depend on what's going on; if the hallucinations are closer to visions he'll probably appreciate them, and may even see them as something bestowed on him by the Force, and the same if he were to get any special abilities, provided they are in line with something the Force might allow practitioners to do. Otherwise, at best he'll consider it a fluke, nuisance, illness, or nightmare, at worst he'll want to figure out what the deal with it is and potentially suspect something more nefarious.
